The National Weather Service forecast for high winds in Albemarle County came in the form of numerous lines down and brush fire calls for all county units. STVFD's first call of the day at around 1030 hours was a brush fire from a downed power line that turned out to be a foreboding indicator of the day to come for Albemarle Co.

Saturday January 26th began pretty quietly for D crew. Company training was set up around the station for probationary firefighter testing. E85 ran a dumpster fire around noon and a few medical calls and an alarm activation were scattered throughout the afternoon between training scenarios. That all changed very quickly as the evening began.

January 20, 2008

C Crew spent most of the weekend taking it easy with just a few medical calls for the first 36 hours. But as the temperature dropped the calls picked up.
