Could it be possible that the long awaited arrival of Engine 81 will happen by Christmas 2007? Assistant Chief Dennis Hahn and Battalion Chief Dan Tawney report that it's very likely. They both returned from Pierce Mfg. after the second of three inspection visits for the new engine. FF Tom Troutman accompanied A/C Hahn for the first pre-build conference a few months ago. A/C Hahn said Engine 81 should be ready for final inspection on December 10th or 11th. Captain Mike Rose and Captain Chris Wiles will accompany A/C Hahn for that final inspection. The engine will be delivered to Singer & Associates for final preparation and then travel to Richmond to have the equipment mounted.

Engine 81 is a Pierce Dash Rescue Pumper with a CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System). It has two siblings Hollymead Engine 121 and Stony Point Engine 62. All three engines were spec'd by the ACFRAB Apparatus Committee then sent to each fire company for final add-ons prior to the order being placed.

We expect to post some pictures of Engine 81 in the very near future so keep checking back.
