A housing ceremony for new Engine 81 was held today at Seminole Trail VFD. Approximately 100 people were in attendance including local citizens, officials from Albemarle County government, fire brigade members, career staff, as well as many of our charter and life members. The attendance by brigade members was held down due to the regional fire school being held this weekend. The ceremony was concluded by asking all of the charter members to break a bottle of champagne on the front bumper, then all department members and the Sisk family pushed the engine into the station. After Engine 81 was housed it was placed into service with ECC and everyone enjoyed the great food and drink provided in the meeting room and hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary. Engine 81 had two significant things added to it during the ceremony. First a bronze plaque honoring FF Walker Sisk was unveiled to the Sisk family. Second, two service star decals were added to the cab of the engine in honor of FF Bill Underwood who has been called back to Iraq for a 3rd tour of duty with the National Guard. These decals, and a service star flag in the foyer, will remain in place until our firefighting brother returns to us safe and sound. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Bill!!!

KUDOS to Batt. Chief Mike Rose for his excellent leadership and coordination of this event.
