MVC with extrication

STVFD units were toned for an MVC w/ extrication on Rio Rd at Pen Park Drive. ECC advised the vehicle was struck by a falling tree. While en route units were advised ACPD was on the scene and the patient was trapped under the steering wheel. Upon arrival fire and rescue units stabilized the vehicle and quickly extricated the priority yellow patient from the vehicle. The patient was transported to the UVA ED by CARS 141. The oak tree, measuring approximately 75 feet, had rotted at the base and fallen across communication lines striking the car as it fell. The weather at the time of the accident was warm and there were no winds.
