Crews responded to 342 N. Bennington Road where fencing contractors had severed a 2" main natural gas line
that had been unmarked by Miss Utility. Crews evacuated the area and stood by until Charlottesville Gas secured the leak.
Natural Gas is lighter than air and quickly dissipates with a gentle breeze, which generally presents no long-term hazards outdoors. An explosion hazard exists when quantities build up in a confined area, or an active leak ignites.
