Units were dispatched for smoke coming from a apartment at 151 Whitewood Road as a reduced response. Chief 83 arrived a few minutes after dispatch and reported nothing showing. Capt. Wiles arrived on scene, by foot from his place of employment just up the street, and updated that a ground floor apartment was filled with smoke with occupants evacuating the building. He then asked dispatch to fill the box for an apartment fire. E1 and E81 arrived at about the same time, E1 positioned at the apartment entrance while E81 secured a hydrant and laid in. E1 crew made entry with a charged hose line while E81's crew ventilated the apartment. Interior crews quickly knocked down the fire and checked for extension. E121's crew checked divisions 2,3 and the attic for any extension or smoke. E85's crew assisted with utility control and overhaul. E41 staged then covered ST 8 by manning both E41 and Tower 88. The fire was being investigated by ACFR Fire Marshals.
