Charlottesville Engine 2 arrived to investigate an alarm activation shortly after a strong storm passed through the area. Upon finding smoke in the structure, the box was filled, bringing units from Station 8 - already having a busy shift, Station 4, Station 5, and Station 11. A significant amount of damage was prevented by the crews' quick response and diligent investigation. While smoke was initially found in the roof area, the origin was determined to be a small propane-fed fire in the basement ceiling. A possible source of the emergency was a lightning strike near the house communicated inside via the water line, where the propane line melted.
