House destroyed by fire while occupants were on vacation

STVFD units responded to a house fire in their first due just after shift change on Wednesday evening. During the response units knew right away it was a working fire due to the visible column of smoke from miles away. E2 arrived first closely followed by E81 and TO88. Units immediately went to work pulling lines to the well involved house fire. Flames were mainly visible from the rear and smoke was issuing from the entire home. E2 reported a basement fire upon their initial attack from side Charlie. As initial companies were about to make a push to search the structure ACPD received information from neighbors that the occupants were away on vacation. Since this info couldn't be completely confirmed and there was a vehicle in the drive, units managed a primary search of the most of the main floor before prior to being pulled out due to roof collapse. Multiple companies worked during the next few hours to extinguish pockets of throughout the basement and collapse areas. ACFR investigators held E81 and TO88 until 2:35am to assist with the investigation and final overhaul of the area of origin.
